Firewood Packaging and Transport

Firewood packaging is a labor intensive operation and no fully automatic methods exist.

Firewood for bulk transport consists of either stacked wood in wooden crates or loosely piled into polypropylene mesh bags. Packaging for reselling can include mesh polypropylene bags, cardboard boxes, plastic bags, shrink wrapping or cellophane wrapping.

Equipment to help the packaging process consist of stands for holding packaging materials open while being filled, racks for metering and filling packaging, equipment to hold firewood while being wrapped or ovens to activate shrink wrap. Whatever packaging or packaging equipment is used, a large part of the process is done by people.
